The book I read to research this post was The Berlitz Pocket Guide To Munich and Bavaria which is a very good book that I bought from kindle. This book is around 150 pages so is a decent length. It is about Munich the 3rd biggest city in Germany and the surrounding area. Bavaria is a former principiaity that now is part of the country. In times past it was a major salt producing area. At one stage a long time ago Munich was required to supply troops for a battle and didn’t cooperate. They were going to raise the city to the ground and was there wealth the influential Bishop Otto used the cities great wealth to buy there way out of it and the city was spared. Nowadays there are many attractions in Munich. There is a science and technology museum which is the biggest of its type in the world. There is a huge Olympic Stadium built to host the 1972 Olympics and a huge size. The football club Bayern Munich are here and are one of the greatest football clubs in the world. It is a city renowned for its opera and there are several companies. There is a traditionally Bavarian castle built by Ludwig the 2nd and he spent a hugely excessive amount of money on it. The airport is 18 miles away. The German spoken here is very close to what is regarded as the standard language. I did enjoy this book and do recommend it.
